During the height of World War II, a crazed mad man digging up secret treasures all over Europe has discovered a way to bring the entire world under his control, and the embattled forces of the Allies might not be able to stop him. They’re only hope is to fight fire with some mad science fire of their own by transforming one volunteer into the greatest soldier the world has ever seen: Captain America.

Johnson’s “Captain America” is something of a mixed affair, but if Marvel has... (continued)

Now this, this is a good movie.

The ending let's it down. Every even mildly knowledgeable fan knows that he is going to get frozen but they really could have picked a better way to get there. Especially considering his high diving theatrics in TWS

This one is definitely a step up from Thor. At the time this came out it was the only Marvel movie I didn't see in the theaters. I actually tried to watch before Avengers came out and fell asleep...twice. A good movie I was too tired.

Dum Dum Dugan: Wait. You know what you're doing?
Steve Rogers: Yeah. I knocked out Adolf Hitler over 200 times.

Also, is it just me...or does Dum Dum Dugan bare a striking resemblance to Damian Dark from Arrow. Lol.

I love the ending, here's why: Captain America's dialogue with Peggy sets up my favorite line in the movie- Cap to Fury, "I had a date".

One of my favorite films in the Order. I just love Cap as a character so much, and they really got it right. My only complaint is, what was Red Skull's plan? I don't remember it, if he even had one. I think it might have been some generic take over the world type thing. But who cares, I'm just glad we got someone to play Cap who is totally perfect in the role.

Couldn't agree more on the perfect Actor for Cap bit you mentioned...but I also think that they casted a good one for Thor...

Aside from blowing up a bunch of major cities with his tessaract-fueled bomb planes I'm not really sure what his plan was after that.

That's because it is the same actor that played Damian Dark....

just re-watched this, and this really holds up well to a rewatching.... much better then Thor... I had forgotten all the connectivite this has with setting everything up for Avengers, and even the later Phase movies...

in fact I gave this one an extra star this time around...

I just hit this in my rewatch with my son and, I'd forgotten how charming this movie was.

While the CGI doesn't hold up (particularly the NYC chase scene) the overall feeling this movie leaves me with is just wonderful. They did such a good job establishing the character. Tommy Lee Jones is unexpectedly enjoyable in his role.

I can't wait until my son is old enough to watch this with me.
